Egypt Post-Revolution Panel Discussion-The Egyptian revolution has been a source of both inspiration and grave concern for many. A panel discussion by church members will explain the events in Egypt from an Egyptian-Christian perspective. They will then field any questions about the revolution and its impact on Christianity in Egypt.

 

Coptic Contributions to Christianity-The Coptic Church is proud of its contribution to the Nicene Creed through St. Athanasius of Alexandria, which proclaims the basic tenets of Christianity. Egypt is also the birthplace of monasticism, originating with St. Anthony. Join Tamav (Mother) Lois, a Coptic monastic, as she details the tremendous impact of the Coptic Church on early Christianity.

 

Art in the Coptic Church - Iconography along with hymns dating back to the first century are an integral part of the Coptic church. Both present saints, dogma and theology in great artistic depth. In this presentation, Mrs. Samira Saleh will introduce you to the study of two of our church’s most valuable art forms.

 

Medicine in Ancient  Egypt - Ancient Egyptians are known to have been the most advanced of the early cultures in medicine. Their use of surgical tools and a vast array of medicine is well documented because they were also meticulous note-takers. Ashraf Zaki will explain these fascinating medical practices of ancient Egyptians.

 

Church Youth Choir - The choir performs traditional Coptic hymns and liturgical chants in three languages: English, Coptic, and Arabic. A booklet translating their song lyrics into these languages helps you enjoy their performance.

 

Church Tours - Learn about the Coptic church’s rich history, beliefs, and traditions from one of our church youth. Tours are available that explain general information about the church, the art within the church, and the stories of our church’s holy saints. This is a wonderful opporunity to get answers to whatever questions you have about the Coptic church.

 

Ancient Egyptian Royalty - King Tut and Queen Nefertiti will appear with their servants and maids to welcome our guests. Royal scribes are available to record these historic events in photo sessions with festival guests.

 

Papyrus Making Exhibit - Egyptians used papyrus to make boats, fuel, and food. Egypt's greatest achievement in the ancient world was turning strips of the papyrus leaves to paper. Come watch a live showing of the papyrus-making process, from beginning to end, at our exhibit.

 

Movie: King Tut’s final secrets - There is much fascination with King Tutankamen based on the 20th century discovery of his undisturbed tomb. This movie explores use of modern technology to determine the cause of his premature death.

 

Movie: Jesus In Egypt - Excerpts of a full-length film, Jesus in Egypt, visits many of the sites where the Holy Family fled as they evaded King Herod’s soldiers. The Holy Family stayed in Egypt approximately 2½ years.

 

Movie: Visions and Miracles - A documentary film that reveals modern day visions and miracles of Egypt never before seen in the Western World, Visions and Miracles takes you into Egypt’s greatest modern mysteries.
